GEELY AUTO and FORD MOTOR COMPANY have announced the creation of a new joint manufacturing venture in Spain focused on producing low-emission and fully electric vehicles for the European market.
The joint venture will be based at FORD’s manufacturing facility in Valencia, Spain. The company is expected to begin operations in 2027, with vehicle production scheduled to start in 2028.
Under the current plans, the facility will produce three FORD models and two GEELY electric vehicles for European customers. The production site will have the capacity to manufacture up to 500,000 vehicles per year.
The partnership highlights the ongoing transformation of the European automotive industry and the growing importance of international cooperation in the development of electric mobility.
Local production can help automakers optimize supply chains, reduce logistics costs and strengthen their position in the rapidly expanding low-emission vehicle market.
For GEELY, the partnership provides an opportunity to further expand its presence in Europe and increase local vehicle production. FORD, meanwhile, will be able to utilize its Valencia manufacturing capacity for a new generation of vehicles aimed at European consumers.
The planned joint venture is another example of global automakers combining manufacturing capabilities and technologies to accelerate the transition toward electric and more sustainable transportation.
