The Energy Minister of Moldova, Dorin Junghietu, has urged drivers to use fuel more responsibly amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
According to the minister, the country’s energy sector has been placed on heightened alert due to potential disruptions in the supply of gas, electricity, and petroleum products. Authorities recommend that car owners reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and avoid purchasing fuel without real need.
Junghietu also noted that fuel retailers are not allowed to limit the amount of fuel sold to a single customer. At the same time, citizens were reminded that fuel should only be stored and transported in certified containers designed specifically for petroleum products.
The Moldovan government has introduced a 60-day heightened readiness regime in the energy sector and prepared a contingency plan to respond to possible supply disruptions, including the creation of fuel reserves.
